Film and poetry
We run workshops and projects linking poetry to film, at schools and for literature and film festivals. We worked with poet Mererid Hopwood on a Wales India exchange as part of the Academi/British Council Writers’ Chain project, and with Francesca Kay at this year’s Hay Festival.
Training
We provide training around Wales and beyond for teachers, youth and community workers and others. Our training programme covers using and teaching with film and media, film-making, and training in using specific creative software. We’re currently developing a programme of training for the informal education sector, with events planned in South, Mid and North Wales.
Primary and transition
Several of our projects and workshops have focused on Primary and transition. Ffilmschool 2, our year-long project in Neath Port Talbot, demonstrated how non-narrative film and film-making can support speaking and listening, groupwork and writing skills in Years 6 and 7.
Media and Film 2010
Places are still available on our popular two-day INSET for teachers of WJEC Film and Media Studies is on 16-17 September in Ty Dysgu, near Cardiff. It’s the only INSET conference specifically for WJEC, with most sessions being led by Chief Examiners and Team leaders – and we’ve held the prices for the third year running.
Editsense
Learn film by editing the films on our new DVD-ROM using standard video software, on Mac or PC.
