Accredited filmmaking with young people
This workshop, by Arielle Tye and Dayana Del Puerto will give you access to free resources for delivering Agored Cymru Level 2 in Creating Video Stories; introduce simple filmmaking exercises; and show how you can share the work in a ready-made online community through CLIConline and CLICplay.
Basic filmmaking
Filmmaker Tom Betts will look at how you can use phones, still cameras and webcams to create exciting films in styles ranging from monster movies to musicals. The workshop will also cover ‘very short shorts’ (making films under a minute) and recreating your favourite classics à la Be Kind Rewind.
Storyboarding and film language
Andrew Barnden, storyboard artist (Tomb Raider 2, Dracula) and director, will introduce key elements of film language and show why they are used. Participants will then take a simple scenario and explore how they can use different shots to add drama and emotion to their films.

Funding for film projects
This seminar – with representatives from the Film Agency for Wales and First Light – will introduce the funding criteria used by three of the main sources for film education and filmmaking by young people in Wales.
Filmmaking with disabled young people 1
In this workshop Michelle Eastwood – 104 films Development Producer – will outline the 104 films method of running creative workshops and outline their basic workshop models. She will also outline fundamental strategies and approaches to working with disabled young people
Principles of video editing
Filmmaker Tom Betts will introduce the basics of editing and using iMovie software, looking at some of the ‘rules’ of filmmaking and editing and some tricks and illusions. He will look at how to add sound (effects, music and extra dialogue). Participants will go on to plan a sequence and edit it to music.

Film with young people not in education, employment and training
Matt Beere will outline some of his recent work with young people not in education, employment or training. Matt will show examples of his practice, and discuss some of the difficulties, challenges, benefits and positive outcomes from these projects. He will also look at some work in the Youth Justice system.
Filmmaking with disabled young people 2
In this workshop Michelle Eastwood – 104 films Development Producer – will show examples of films made through the 104 films workshops and explain the process behind them.
Stop the clock!
Filmmaker Ryan Hooper will set you a challenge: make a 90 second film in 90 minutes. During this structured process you will learn about framing and camera movements, working in filmmaking teams, film planning and scripting, and video editing.
Animation with young people
The workshop will look at different methods for engaging children and young people using animation, focussing in particular on the use of cut-out animation. The workshop will take as a case study Gerald Conn’s work with young Travellers in different parts of Wales taking Gypsy and Traveller culture as subject matter for a series of films.
